Jara Marken

Jara Marken (f. 1991, Norway )
Marken works at the intersection of painting and textiles, using a process-driven approach that evolves through intuitive collage. Her works begin as brief “inner flashes” and unfold into a dialogue between color, textile, water, and the body, often suggesting abstracted landscapes or inner spaces.

She explores memory, place, and time, examining how tearing apart and reassembling materials can create subtle shifts in how we experience both time and remembrance.

Jara Marken holds a BA in Textile Art from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and an MFA in Fine Art from the University of Bergen.
