Marvin Pope
Marvin Pope (b. Karasjok, Norway)
is a photographer whose work grows from a lifelong devotion to documenting art and the people who shape it. With many years behind the camera and contributions to numerous art books, Pope has developed a distinctive visual language grounded in sensitivity, presence, and deep cultural belonging.
A proud Sámi from Karasjok, he draws heavily on the vast, quiet landscapes of Northern Norway.
His art photography often unfolds in these open terrains, where light, weather, and land become collaborators in the image-making process.
In recent years, Pope has worked closely with artist
Tonje Plur, photographing her sculptural, textile-based creatures within the landscapes that inspired them.
