Kari Håkonsen

(b. 1969, Norway)
Norwegian glass artist whose work is characterized by an exploratory approach to the material, ranging from solid forms with optical qualities to delicate structures stretched to the limits of glass.

She has exhibited extensively in Norway and internationally, and her works are included in major collections such as the National Museum, KODE, Nordenfjeldske, and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Håkonsen runs the studio Klart glass in Kirkenær together with Vidar Koksvik, and since 2015 they have also operated a glass workshop and shop at
Bærums Verk.

Håkonsen studied glass at the Glass School in Orrefors, Sweden, and at The Surrey Institute of Art and Design in the UK.
