Et Dukkehjem

3.3 - 19.4.2026

D142 presents Et dukkehjem, a group exhibition exploring the intersection of art, design, architecture, and the home through a dialogue between miniature and full-scale objects.

Historically, the dollhouse functioned as an idealized model of the home, a carefully controlled representation of space, order and social roles, long before it became
a childrens toy.
It reflected not only how a home should look, but also how life within it should be lived.

The home is an active environment that shapes how we think, feel and behave. Environmental psychology shows that qualities such as light, material, order and clutter influence our sense of safety, belonging, concentration, and well-being.
From early childhood, the home becomes a framework through which we understand
the world and over time, it quietly shapes our habits, values, and identities.

Today, the home has taken on another dimension. With the rise of social media, it as also become a stage. Interiors are styled, curated and shared, objects are chosen not for use but how they appear on screen, It’s no loner a place to be lived in but a place to be seen by others.

Et dukkehjem reflects on how these social structures continue to shape us.
when the home can be seen as a curated model or even a performance, questions arise.
Who is the home really for? And how much of it is formed by our own needs, and how much by external expectations?

The exhibition is developed and curated by Neshat Golparvar
